Our Guiding Principles

Transforming Climate Governance through Science, Equity, and Ecosystem Thinking

TNGCC follows an integrated, systems-based approach to climate action—anchored in science, shaped by community needs, and aligned with Tamil Nadu’s development goals. We connect global best practices with local solutions, ensuring impact that is measurable, inclusive, and sustainable.

TNGCC’s six foundational values for climate action

Ecosystem-Based Planning

We prioritize the health of ecosystems—forests, wetlands, coasts—as the foundation for climate adaptation and resilience.

Science & Data-Driven Action

Every intervention is backed by geospatial analytics, MRV systems and modelling, to ensure credibility and replicability.

Collaborative Governance

We work across departments, missions, districts, and communities to break silos and build collective capacity.

Equity & Participation

Community-led solutions and vulnerable group inclusion are central to our program design.

Scalable, Circular Solutions

We promote circular economy models and climate finance pathways that scale with both ambition and accountability.

Accelerated Net-Zero Transition

We are actively designing and executing mitigation strategies to put Tamil Nadu on a net-zero pathway—well before 2070.
